What do you love most about where you live?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for May 16, 2007:
I don't actually have a home or a community. We lived in Kansas City for twelve years straight, and I did feel at home there. But even Kansas City isn't my hometown. My hometown, Kirkwood, Missouri, has changed so drastically in the last 30 years that I can literally say, "I can't go home again."
For the last four years we have moved every summer. First to Massachusetts. Then to Wisconsin. Last summer we moved to a different rental home. In about a month we'll moving for the last time. I hope.
I left Kirkwood in 1976. Since then I've rarely felt at home in terms of place, though I have found home with my husband. I have been especially restless since I turned forty.
I'm nearly 51. I think it's time to settle down.
