This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for May 01, 2008:
The fact that I'm answering this several days late already tells a lot about my answer.
I have been busy since the beginning of March. Promoting my books, working with the editor for the release of my latest book, and just life in general.
But all that doesn't compare to my latest challenge. In mid-April my publisher asked me to have my newest manuscript ready by May 15. I was working on it at the time, but it was fairly slow going. With the deadline, I had to speed it up significantly.
On Thursday, May 8, I finally finished writing my first draft. It came in at a whopping 421 pages. Because this is the last book in a series, I had to wrap it all up. Now I'm in the process of revising because I never show anyone my first draft. I'm nearly halfway through that stage of the project.
Right now it looks like I'll be able to beat my deadline by a day or two. I have enjoyed writing this book, but I will be so happy when I'm finished. (And so will my family!)
