What is your greatest distraction?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for June 26, 2008:
My greatest distraction is what matters the most but it pulls me away from my professional life.
There are six of them, actually, ranging in age from 25 to 12. Even though the two oldest are on their own, they continue to "distract" this mother's heart.
After nearly 26 years of parenting I thought I had achieved a balance. I work little during the summer and concentrate during the school year. This year, however, my two youngest had snow days. Not one or two but six, and not all at once but spread out over a period of five or six weeks. My schedule was turned upside down and I fell far behind.
My kids distract me. But isn't that their job?
