What was the last thing you found yourself waiting for?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for June 24, 2008:
The birth of my newest granddaughter.
Her due date was June 16, but a week earlier the doctor was sure she would come by June 13. I jumped every time the phone ring. For two days the phone didn't ring and I occasionally checked for a dial tone.
My son called me, finally, at 11:15 p.m. on June 20. She had just been born. I could hear her crying in the background. It was 5:15 a.m. where they were and my son was exhausted--I'm sure my daughter-in-law was too, though the labor was "only" two hours.
I worried more about the arrival of this granddaughter. I'm not sure why. She's here now and I've seen her pictures and I'm very happy. I wish I could see and hold her, but they live across the ocean. That will have to wait.
