What do you have the hardest time accepting?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for January 17, 2009:
Every time there is a conflict somewhere in the world, I hear, or read, of people who say we should just bomb them all and get rid of them. It was first famously said centuries ago. "Kill them all and let God sort it out."
Whether we're talking about women in My Lai or children in Gaza, massacre is always wrong. It cannot be justified by claims of revenge or "containment." Murder is murder.
So why do so many continue to justify the killing of innocents? Not only is this hard for me to accept, but I swear that I never will. Life without compassion is hardly worth living.

War is hard enough to stomach, but, at least, it’s soldier against soldier.
But, when it involves civilians, it’s gone too far–and it’s gone BEYOND going too far when it involves innocent children!
War should be a last resort and not some kind of easy response to what ticks the powers that be off.
Save our armed forces for when they’re really needed and not have them fighting to the death with another country’s armed forces.
Hi, I totally agree with Jamilah. War should not be a resort at all. In fact, wars only happen because somebody is interested in making profits out of the war industry: weapons! YES! That is all it takes. Then, of course, they have to make up “reasons” to explain why they are killing thousands of civilians. Those who support war do not care about those deaths. There is no compassion in their hearts or minds. It is very sad that there are people supporting genocides…
Sad and incomprehensible. I can’t understand how anyone could be that greedy.
